Using UPPERCASE in Websites

letters in uppercase

Researching the top ranked websites according to Alexa.com, we found that the majority of these website don’t enforce the transformation of the text into uppercase.

However, we find many themes in WordPress that enforce the uppercase in menu items, headings, tags, author name, and even not important links.

We do see that uppercase letters look professional, awesome and ENTERPRISE, however, from my own perspective I see that the overuse of it is simply ugly.

I see that all-uppercase text should be used in Book titles, logos, company names, drawing attention in some sentences, or for warnings, but other than that? it’s just doesn’t fit the purpose.

If using the lowercase looks ugly using your font, simply look for other type or font. Most browsers and Operating Systems now make fonts smooth by defaults, so even an all lowercase or simply first-letter-uppercase is good enough.

You might disagree, but statistically and visually, Normal-case, capitalizing the first letter of a Name is nice looking, clear, professional, official and more than enough.
